  • Master’s Program

    Master’s Program

    The Master’s program prepares students for positions as counseling practitioners in community, government, business, and private social service agencies. Graduates provide services such as school, child, youth, couple, family, employment, mental health, gerontological, substance abuse, and/or wellness counseling. The Master’s program consists of a minimum of 24 credit hours including two departmental core courses. Master’s student should complete a minimum of 2 courses (6 credits) among the other majors within the department. The students coming from another major in undergraduate degree should complete 2 additional core courses as prerequisites. In addition students should take one research methodology course and one practicum course (120 clock hours), which are available from either our department or another department. Before students publicly present a thesis proposal, they need to finish their practicum experience and publish either one article as a first author or at least two articles as co-authors. Students will be granted only 2 opportunities per semester to present their thesis proposal. After this presentation, they will be able to submit a thesis.

    Thesis
